An environment of equal opportunity and fair treatment is critical for the continued success here at 3rd Fleet. Participation in supremacist, extremist, or criminal gang activity, ideology, or causes is incompatible with this ideal. Every member of this command will reject participation in these organizations. These groups support unacceptable ideas such as supremacist causes, illegal discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, age, disability or national origin, and the use of force and other means to deprive individuals of their civil rights. 

 Actively supporting supremacist, extremist, or criminal gangs can include public demonstrations or rallies on behalf of the group, helping with fundraising, and recruiting and training members. Prohibited behaviors also include gaining or maintaining membership, distributing literature or other information, organizing or leading such organizations, or otherwise providing support or presence to further their objectives. These and other activities are detrimental to our good order, discipline, and mission accomplishment at 3rd Fleet, and are incompatible with our military service. Activities in direct support of these organizations, which seek to deny basic constitutional protections to a specific group of our society, are in direct conflict with the principles on which our country was founded. Support for these organizations by military and civilian members at 3rd fleet is inappropriate and inconsistent with service to our Navy and our nation, and violates the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Membership or active participation is therefore prohibited, and can be the basis for a number of disciplinary and administrative actions. 

Recognizing and fostering individual worth and value for all personnel requires the personal commitment of each and every one of us, while both on and off duty. I expect nothing less than full support to create an environment where we are treated with human dignity, respect, and can live and work in an atmosphere free of hatred, bigotry, and violence.
